OMAHA, NE February
6, 2013 – Craft beer drinkers in Nebraska have a lot to be thankful for. Over
the past few years they’ve seen the emergence of new breweries, tap houses and
craft beer festivals around the metro. The grandest of them all, Omaha Beer
Fest, will be back this summer to celebrate all things American craft beer.
The third annual, two day Omaha Beer Fest will take place June 7th and 8th
at Aksarben Village’s Stinson Park.
Nebraska’s growing craft beer culture can taste and appreciate specialty brews
from all over the country at what is again expected to be the largest craft
beer festival in Nebraska.
Hundreds of unique craft beers will be available for tasting
from 50 American craft breweries. Brewers and representatives from many of the
breweries will be on hand to sample their crafts and meet their fans. Several
breweries will make their debut this year at the festival, including Funkwerks (Fort Collins, CO), Brewery Ommegang (Cooperstown, NY), Mad River (Blue Lake, CA), as well as
several new Nebraska breweries including Ploughshare
(Lincoln), Zipline (Lincoln) and
Benson (Omaha).
Seminars, comparative tastings and special pairings will be
offered throughout the event at the on-site Beer Academy. Friday night,
ticket holders will enjoy the popular Homebrewer
Expo, where guests can taste through dozens of experimental brews created
by members of local homebrewer clubs. VIP ticket holders will enjoy the VIP Experience on Saturday, with early
festival entry, access to the VIP Lounge, delicious pub food, as well as specialty
beers not available in the brewery tents.
Attendance
to all events supports Parent Project
Muscular Dystrophy, the official festival beneficiary. PPMD is leading the
fight to end Duchenne, the most devastating form of muscular dystrophy.
Sponsors include
JM Web Designs, DRAFT Magazine, Craft
Beer Junkie, Wohlner’s Grocery, Deffenbaugh, Aksarben Village and Nebraska Beer Blog.
