OMAHA, NE   June 2, 2014 – This weekend, craft beer aficionados will take over Aksarben Village’s Stinson Park for the Omaha Beer Fest and Street Eats!

Hundreds of unique craft beers will be available for tasting from 60+ American craft breweries including Deschutes Brewery (Bend, OR), Founders Brewing Co (Grand Rapids, MI), Goose Island (Chicago) and Schlafly Beer (St. Louis), as well as over a dozen Nebraska breweries including Zipline Brewing Co (Lincoln), Benson Brewery, and the yet-to-open Farnam House Brewing Co.

Participating food trucks include Maria Bonita, Nitro Burger (from Lincoln, NE), Mosaic Pickle, Prairie Fire Pizza, The Funnel Cake Truck and Big Kahuna Kettle Corn.

Also appearing for the first time: The Cupcake Vineyards Truck. Cupcake Vineyards announced last week that Omaha is the newest stop on the national tour. This will be the first time the Cupcake truck has made an appearance in Nebraska. The truck will be sampling their most popular wine varietals.

In addition to beer and wine, patrons will enjoy other libations including hard ciders from several vendors, and mead (wine made from honey) from Moonstruck Meadery.

Friday night, patrons can taste through dozens of experimental brews created by members of local and regional home brew clubs at the Homebrewer Expo.

Saturday’s VIP Experience is sponsored by Blatt Beer & Table. Guests will feast on delicious fare from the gastropub, as well as enjoy VIP-only beer tastings.

Hourly Beer Academy sessions are free with admission, and include a beer and tapas pairing, tastings of barrel-aged beer and spirits, and a seminar on fresh hops, among others.

Local and regional bands are scheduled to play on the big stage. Band line-up includes Avaricious, Almost KISS (Kansas City), Marcos & Sabor and The Bishops.

One lucky, well-endowed festival-goer will win $500 for best overall facial hair at the inaugural Beer & Beards Contest, sponsored by Bearded Builders on Saturday. Included in the panel of judges is Jim Flowers, KMTV Action 3 News.

Attendance supports Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy. Parent Project will be giving away raffle prizes throughout the festival, including a signed football by Tom Osborne, Nebraska football tickets, cash, gift cards and more. For every $5 donation, Parent Project will give the festival patron a pretzel necklace (while they last) and raffle tickets.
