Cask beer fans rejoice! The 1st Annual NEbraska Cask Ale Festival is coming to Ploughshare Brewing Co. in Lincoln. Nineteen breweries featuring 24 casks will be participating in this unique event with all proceeds to benefit the Nebraska Craft Brewers Guild.

A paid ticket will grant patrons a collectable 12 oz. Willi tumbler glass along with unlimited cask ale samplings and discounts on select Ploughshare food items. The first 50 people for each session get a NECAF event t-shirt. On top of all that, live music will also be performed during the event.

Matt Stinchfield, owner and master brewer of Ploughshare in Lincoln is very excited about hosting this inaugural festival. "We have some amazing beers including an Mosaic hopped ale with habaneros from Founders (MI), mint flavored Moo Joos from Brau Bros (MN), and dry hopped helles bock from Ploughshare." Stinchfield explains that the majority of the beers are from Nebraska breweries who are happy to participate and support the state guild.

Cask ale is unfiltered and unpasteurized beer which is conditioned and served from a gravity-fed cask without any added nitrogen or carbon dioxide pressure. For this event, all ales will be dispensed directly from the spigot.

Stinchfield did offer some advice for those planning on attending: "We recommend arriving at 4pm on either day of the event, eating a fresh pretzel or house made brat with the discount that comes with your ticket, then attending the festival in our 'chilly' brewery. Coats are advised."

Following the Saturday night portion of the festival, there is a host of entertainment options in downtown Lincoln including the Chieftains at the Lied Performance Center and The Reverend Horton Heat playing at the Bourbon Theater.
