LINCOLN ONLY: This Friday will be a very special tapping party for Empyrean Brewing Company's Beer Quest winning Triple Hop IPA. Save the Miller jokes, this IPA is for real!
Beer Quest is a quarterly event which starts with 21 homebrewers going head to head in a private competition judged by certified beer judges, with the top 10 beers moving on to the Beer Quest public event. Brewers in this final round serve their beer and speak with the public about what processes and techniques they used to make their beer unique. The public's job is to try each one of the beers and rank the brewers in order of favorite. The winner of the public tasting is crowned the winning brewer, and is awarded the opportunity to brew the winning recipe on Empyrean's big brewery system.
No strangers to the winner's circle, the team of Tim Thomssen, Brian Hoesing and Dean Fryda are again the champs of the recent Beer Quest event. The theme of the latest competition was "Triple Hop", and brewers were challenged to make the best possible beer using three different hop varieties. Not only did this beer win the main public judging, but it also won the initial BJCP judging, as well as the closed door "Brewer's Vote". The trifecta for the triple hop!
While Tim and Brian are off on adventures, Dean "The Dream" will be down to enjoy the winning beer with everyone, so come down and share a pint or two!
