Jake's Friday- Lincoln: Empyrean Beer Quest Release / Omaha: Boulder Killer Penguin

Friday (12/21) tapping parties for the Lincoln & Omaha Jake's

LINCOLN JAKE'S: It's not just the end of the world, it's also a very special double tapping party for the most recent Empyrean Beer Quest winning beer, a Pumpkin Ale brewed by Empyrean Brewing Company and winning homebrewer Tim Thomssen.  We will be offering Tim's beer on both draft and on cask through the beer engine!

For those who have never heard of Beer Quest, it is an Empyrean Brewing Company quarterly event which starts with 21 homebrewers going head to head in a private competition judged by certified beer judges, with the top 10 beers moving on to the Beer Quest public event.  Brewers in this final round serve their beer and speak with the public about what processes and techniques they used to make their beer unique.  The public's job is to try each one of the beers and rank the brewers in order of favorite. The winner of the public tasting is crowned the winning brewer, and is awarded the opportunity to brew the winning recipe on Empyrean's big brewery system.

Winning brewer Tim Thomssen will be hanging out, so come down and congratulate him over a pint or two!

5:00 pm Jake's Lincoln (14th & P St.)

OMAHA JAKE'S: Omaha will be getting warm with a big ol' Barleywine from Boulder Beer Company that goes by the name of Killer Penguin.

Brewery description: "Our extremely limited winter barleywine ale. Traditional winter seasonals are warm and comforting -- not this bird! Diving in at around 10 percent alcohol by volume, Killer Penguin uses over twice the malt as other winter beers. Aged to perfection, this beer doesn't ferment, it hibernates -- and wakes up with an attitude!"

5:00 Jake's Omaha (62nd & Maple)
