Modern Monks Offer Nebraska's First Gluten-Free Beer

Modern Monks will celebrate the release of Batch #1 - a gluten-free beer on Monday, February 25, 2013. This event will mark the first commercial release of a gluten-free beer in the state of Nebraska. The recipe for the beer was created by long-time Monks business partner, Dave Norris, who suffers from gluten intolerance. Batch #1 will be the first beer in the series Against the Grain.

Dave says, "As a home brewer for the last 20 years, I developed a passion for well-crafted beers. Having come to the conclusion that I will never be able to drink a barley-based beer again, I have dedicated my brewing to alternative grains. My main goal with the Against the Grain series is to create a beer that people will never know is gluten free - a beer that can stand on its own without the stigma of being a “GF” beer - Batch #1 is that beer.”

Batch #1 is a Blonde Ale by style that comes in at 4% ABV. Light golden in color and crafted with Nebraska hops, this beer is mild and finishes with a noble hop aroma. A very approachable ale for the warm spring and summer months.
