ATTENTION HOMEBREWERS: 2015 Sower's Cup Homebrew Competition

From the Lincoln Lagers Homebrew Club:

The Lincoln Lager's Homebrew Club is excited to announce the 2015 Sower’s Cup homebrew competition. Entries are being accepted now through September 18th in all 28 BJCP beer, mead and cider categories, as well as our special “Sower in the Rye” category and GABF Pro-Am “No Workaround Decoction” category.

The “Sowers in the Rye” category is open for any and all beers brewed with rye. How much rye is necessary to qualify? That is up to you, but the judges will be looking for bold, distinct rye character in an otherwise best-damn-beer format.

**GABF Pro-Am Contest**  Ploughshare Brewing Company will be hosting a category called “No Workaround Decoction”.  The categories accepted will include: 1-5, 15, and 22a.  The conditions are: 1) you must brew the recipe using decoction mashing (cereal mashing, single, or double decoction), 2) you must provide your recipe and mash/decoction schedule to Ploughshare prior to the re-brew, 3) Ploughshare will do a 15-bbl scale up of the recipe and mash schedule, 4) brewing will take place sometime between January and March 2016, 5)Ploughshare will supply ingredients and labor, but the winning brewer is expected to get themselves here on their own dime, and 6) The winning beer will be entered in the 2016 Great American Beer Festival Pro-Am competition*.
(*Due to the Brewing Association accepting GABF Pro-Am entries on a first come basis, we are unable to guarantee entry, but we are 99.99% sure of it)
