The Oktoberfests Are Coming! (updated 9/11/15)

It's that time of year. Oktoberfest time! Obviously, there are several celebrations happening throughout the state and rather than making a post for every single one, we're going to list all of the ones we know of in one post. If we miss some (not hard to imagine), please let us know via the Contact Us link so we can get them all.

Scratchtoberfest - Scratchtown Brewing Company
Join us for our birthday and Oktoberfest celebration we call Scratchtoberfest!

Three great bands will be joining us:- The Czechlanders Orchestra Lite- Ashton Dugan and the Band Dave - Jerry Neeman and his Triumphant Return
Commemorative .5L mugs will be for sale while supplies last. ID's will be required to enter.
Due to the expected crowds, we will NOT be doing:- tabs- flights- growler/howler fills.
Tickets for drinks, mugs and merch will be for sale at our merchandising area.

DockToberFest - Nebraska Brewing Company

With the popularity of Oktoberfest's in the area this year, we've heard about waiting in a lot of lines & we've got a few ideas that we think will go a long way in an effort to avoid lines as much as possible. 
1) Purchase your beer/food tickets early (starting Thursday October 1st)2) Saturday ticket purchases will be managed by a dedicated person. 2) Outside beer pouring area, as well as beers in the taproom.

Come celebrate the 131st Oktoberfest & German Day Celebration @ the German-American Society on September 18 - 19, 2015. This festival is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, so invite your friends! Again this year, we have custom logoed ½ liter mugs for only $5
If you bought a ½ liter or liter mug in past years you may bring it back to use so you don't have to buy a mug again this year.
If you have a favorite mug you want to bring that does not have a fill line on it, you can still bring it, we will just pour your bier in a plastic cup and you can transfer it into your decorative stein.
Like wise, we are no longer going to fill mugs half way. It's too hard to know where the half measure actually is and don't want to over charge someone.

Contests will be held on Saturday, September 27th.Signup sheets will be at the shot stand.
We ask that all competitors arrive under the tent (by the band) 5-10 minutes prior to the competition start time. A prize will be awarded to first place.
All competitions are FREE to signup for.
• Foot long brat challenge (6pm)Open to the first 6 men and women who sign up to see who can eat a foot long bratwurst the fastest! The women will go first at 6pm immediately followed by the men.
• Speed Challenge (7pm)Open to the first six men and women that signup. The women will go first at 7pm immediately followed by the men.
• Liter Endurance Hold (8pm)Open to the first six men and women that signup. The women will go first at 8pm immediately followed by the men.
• Bavarian Pretzel Eating Contest (8:30pm)Open to the first 6 men and women who sign up to see who can eat a authentic Bavarian pretzel the fastest! The women will go first at 8:30 immediately followed by the men.

Kearney Oktoberfest
The Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to host our second annual Kearney Oktoberfest. Kearney Oktoberfest is an opportunity to provide the Nebraska craft beer scene and the City of Kearney with a signature event to help generate awareness of our developing craft beer culture. Come out and experience German culture at its finest!!! The event will also feature the traditional keg tapping "O'zapft is", live music from Whiskey Bent & Leo Lonnie polka, beer-related vendors, fun games and a variety of local food. You don't want to miss out!! 
VIP Hour: 4-5 PM gives attendees the opportunity to sample craft beer and learn about the brewery's product. 
Regular Admission Time: 5-11 PM

Oktoberfest at Brickway
Brickway will be hosting its 2nd annual Oktoberfest on Saturday Sept. 12th starting at noon.
We will feature traditional Marzen style Oktoberfest and German eats including sausage, sauerkraut and warm German potato salad. 
First 100 people get a Brickway Oktoberfest 1/2 liter mug for $10 full, $4 refills all day. Bring in your own German Bier Stein and get $6 fills.
We will be giving away a gift card for the best German costumes male and female, at 9pm, must be present to win.

Oktoberfest in Sydney
Sidney’s Oktoberfest is one of the most popular festivals in western NebraskaWhen: First full weekend in October Friday through Sunday.What: 3- day festival includes: live bands, parade, floats and fans attending from surrounding states. This classic fall festival features hundreds of entertainers from musical to dance and comedy, and of course there’s an adequate supply of brats, ethnic food and cold beer. Craft show and many vendors.
  • Friday starts off with the tapping of the keg at noon and free entertainment all afternoon and into the evening, with a dance held Friday night under the big tent with a top quality band. 
  • Saturday’s 10am  Oktoberfest Parade is huge, with large crowds, antique cars, community floats, clowns and top quality bands that often includes Denver’s Bagpipe band marching in full Scottish regalia.  There is High School Band competition held at the Sidney High School Football field Saturday afternoon. Saturday night finishes up with another dance held under the big tent with a top quality band.    
  • Sunday you can find local talent up on the open stage from Noon until 2pm, Horseshoe tournament 9am, Crafts, farmer market, ethnic food 10am-3pm. A fun event “Running of the Wiener’s” Dog Races at Legion Baseball Field in Legion Park starts 1:30pm.

You can sit along the sidewalk downtown and watch as dozens of vintage cars and trucks relive the time honored tradition of driving up and down Main Street, showing off their ride!  Saturday there is the Rod & Roll Show and Shine held in Legion Park at the baseball field 1pm to 5pm. Norfolk Oktoberfest
Oktoberfest started in 1810 in Bavaria to celebrate the wedding of Prince Ludwig I. Today Norfolk area residents celebrate the area’s German heritage and the fall harvest every year with a two day family festival.  Occurring at the end of September Oktoberfest grows yearly with live music, German food, beer garden, and family entertainment.  Usually held in conjunction with the Lion’s Club Parade and Riverpoint Arts Festival the Norfolk Oktoberfest is a must see! 
Okto Beerfest in Lincoln
On behalf of the Sertoma Clubs of Lincoln and the scores of brewery reps and volunteers, we welcome you to the Okto Beerfest website. Once again we will host the 22nd annual charity event for the Nebraska State Stroke  Association. With our line-up of 130 beers and over two-dozen food vendors, this is looking to be our biggest festival ever! In addition, this year we’re adding a live auction! $15 Admission Fee grants you access to a wide variety of beers and wines to sample from, all which are sold in-store.

Zipline Festbier Release Party 2015 at Zipline Brewing Co.
Zipline Brewing Co. will be hosting an Oktoberfest party to celebrate their latest small batch release, Festbier, this Friday, September 4th.
Limited edition German Rastal Mugs will be available for purchase ($8 with your first beer, $3 refills after that) and Big Luvs BBQ will be on hand serving BBQ and sausages by Freddie Lee W├╝rstmacher.
In addition, Moran’s Bottle Shop will be sampling a variety of Oktoberfest beers and Kitchen Sink Cookie Co has paired cookies with a variety Zipline’s German-inspired ales and lagers.
