Extreme Beerfest Logo Competition

Calling all graphic designers and artists! The folks at Beer Corner USA are looking for a new logo for their ever-popular Extreme Beerfest. You'll get a $10 gift card just for submitting a correctly formatted design and if you win, you'll get two passes to the Brewer's Reception, two VIP beerfest tickets, and two t-shirts featuring your design. Logo Competition Deadline for submission is Monday, Sept. 7th.  

Our 10th Annual Extreme Beerfest takes place in February of 2016. Since we have so many creative, beer loving customers we decided to hold a logo competition  For an entry done in the correct format you will receive a $10 gift card. The designer of the winning logo will receive two passes to the Brewers Reception (2/26), two VIP Extreme Beerfest tickets (2/27) and two Extreme t-shirts that will feature their winning logo.

If you would like to submit your designs please email Kandace, our events coordinator, at Kandace.G@BeerCornerUSA.com. She can provide you with more details and answer any questions you may have.  

 What we are looking for:

• A full color logo (four color max) that will be used in ads, social media, t-shirts, etc.

• A color logo (two color max) that will be used for the sampling glasses.

The glass logo should be a variation of the shirt design.

• Try to utilize the entire print space on the glassware

• Dimensions for the GA glass 2"w x 1.25"h

• Dimensions for the VIP glass 2.5"w x .75"h

• Please stray away from very small details as they will not translate onto the small print area.

• Logos must be submitted in PDF format. 

• Must include 'Beertopia's 10th Annual Extreme Beerfest' as we carry over the same type of lettering each year (previous Extreme logos can be sent to you for reference).

• Logos need to be related to beer.

• We are leaning towards the idea of a hand holding a sampling glass filled with beer and foam pouring out.  Should appear that it is coming at you or as if the image is jumping off the page.

• We are open to other beer related ideas as well (just please email your ideas first).

*Beer Corner USA reserves the right to cancel the extreme logo competition at any time based upon the number of entries we receive.

 

Nebraska Brewing Company's 3rd Annual Wort Transformation Challenge

Nebraska Brewing Company hosts the

3rd Annual Wort Transformation Challenge,

Homebrew Competition; 

Registration begins Saturday February 1st.

  (PAPILLION, NE) - For the 3^rd year in a row, Nebraska Brewing Company will celebrate American Craft Beer through the birthplace of America Craft beer - Homebrewing! 

All the brewers at Nebraska Brewing Company discovered their love of craft beer through homebrewing, and they want to encourage others to do the same.

This Competition started off small in 2011 with only 60 entries and by 2012, it had grown to 120 entries!  Knowing the growth of homebrewing in the Omaha Metro and with the excitement seen in the past around this competition, Nebraska Brewing decided to increase the competition to 180 entries; that’s nearly 100 gallons of wort!

What is the Wort Transformation Challenge? 

The WTC is a twist on your typical homebrew competition and a bit of a collaboration between the brewers at Nebraska Brewing Company and the Home-brewer.  It starts with the brewers at Nebraska Brewing company brewing up a special batch of wort (un-fermented beer), then each home-brewer brings in a carboy or fermentation bucket and takes 5 gallons of wort home, Once at home the home-brewers add yeast and copious amounts of creativity to create a unique and wonderful beer.  

In 2013, this homebrew competition was featured in Zymurgy Magazine, a national homebrewing magazine published by the American Homebrewers Association. 

Due to the size of this year's competition and the fact that over 30% of the 2013 competitors were from outside the Omaha Metro, Nebraska Brewing Company had reorganized the registration process. 

Registration Timeline:Saturday February 1st

• 11am to Noon:  Registration must be made in person at the Nebraska Brewing Company Brewpub, 7474 Towne Center Parkway #101, Papillion NE 68046     *No phone entries will be taken;, you must be present to purchase your entries at the brewpub, and we will not allow others to purchase your entry for you.

• Starting at 12:30 p.m.: Registrations will ONLY be taken on-line. 

• **On-Line service fees will apply.

There are only 180 entries and the competition will be stiff, as the ‘Best In Show’ winning beer will be brewed at Nebraska Brewing Company!

Design the Artwork for Storz Bottle Caps

WHAT

“Design Your Way to the Top” is offering local designers, artists and members of the public the opportunity to submit art and designs for a series of Storz collectible bottle caps.

WHEN

Through Wednesday, Oct. 16

HOW

By submitting designs for review by Storz Brewing Co., online at www.storzbrewing.com/submit-bottlecap/; or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/StorzBrewing. Storz will make all selection decisions, and they are final. Artists selected will receive recognition for their work on www.storzbrewing.com. All submissions must include the Storz logo. Designs immediately become the property of Storz Brewing Co. Other rules and submission information are included online. A downloadable toolbox is available.

WHY

Storz in bottles is about to hit retail shelves statewide, its first appearance since the company’s bottles and cans disappeared about 1978 (the brewery closed in 1972). Storz wants to share the excitement of its re-launch with a traditional series of collector’s bottle caps on its products. Depending on the quality of submissions, up to 600 designs will be included in the initial run of bottle caps.

NOTES

Storz products, including Triumph Lager, Wood Duck Wheat, Mugs Pale Ale and Gold Crest Amber Ale, will be bottled and distributed in November. The products already are on tap in more than 30 Nebraska pubs and bars. The bottle cap design is not to be confused with the labeling for these products. More announcements regarding winners and distribution will be made at a later time.

Homebrew Contest at Lucky Bucket

Lucky Bucket will be holding a homebrew competition on July 20th in conjunction with their BeerBBQ. The competition will be a public voting based contest where the homebrewer with the most votes will brew their recipe on Lucky Bucket's pilot batch system. The beer will be served either at the Lucky Bucket tasting room or a bar of the homebrewer's choosing. Each homebrewer will get free admission with their entry to the BeerBBQ. Sounds like a win/win deal to me!

In addition, I should add that they are expecting somewhere around 1500 people so you will want to keep that in consideration when planning on how much beer to bring to be judged. If it were me, I would plan on bringing a full 5 gallon batch. Also, if you plan on entering, send an email to chris@luckybucketbrewing.com and Chris will get you set up.

Brewed Up Cocktails Contest with Lucky Bucket

Lucky Bucket is gearing up to hold a beer cocktail contest February 12th. So all you bartenders and mixologists, start working on creating drinks using their Lager, IPA, and Certified Evil to win $50 to spend at Lucky Bucket.

Here's some more details from the email we received:

...we are having a contest to see who can make the best drink out of our lager, the best drink out of our IPA, and the best drink out of our certified evil. the winners of these drinks won't only get great prizes which are explained on the sign, but we will also feature them on our website and we will be promoting them around town with the creators name or establishment, whichever they prefer.  

The contest is at Mojo Smokehouse on Sunday February 12, 2PM.  

Watch the area's best bartenders go head to head to claim the fame and glory of creating the best cocktail for each beer style. Homebrew Shootout 2011

  
This friendly competition pits all Nebraska homebrew clubs against each other.  It's a great way to meet other homebrewers in the state, while enjoying their tasty craft.

Nebraska Beer Logo contest

I think that since we have been doing this blog for a year, and we have some dedicated readers, it is about time we take this thing to another level. I think it is time for a logo. I don't want just any logo, I want a logo that all of us would love to see on stickers, T-shirts, hats, blog headline, etc. I want something cool and representative of what this blog means to you, the brewers, and Nebraska.

Since I have very little logo talent I put the call out to the readers. Please submit me your logos for our site. As of right now we have no income so I have no way to pay you anything but if your logo wins and we start selling shirts and things I imagine we can work something out. I think we can take this blog to another level if we have some income stream and I think logo wear is a good start and a good advertising opportunity.

So give me your thoughts and your logos. Let's blow this thing up. If you would like to contribute to this blog at anytime please contact me as well and I will set you up. A blog is only successful if there is content and while this has been a great week sometimes it can be pretty slow based on my time to dedicate to it. Thanks readers!!

River City Round-up Time!

Just received and email for the upcoming River City Round-Up Homebrew Competition. This is one of the premier homebrew events in the state, please check it out.

Show your stuff, homebrewers! Reserve a few bottles of your
finest for this year's RCR Fair & Festival.

The River City Roundup Fair & Festival Homebrew Competition will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at the Legacy Upstream Brewery & Restaurant.
Entries close on Saturday, September 6 and can be dropped off at the
Upstream (17070 Wright Plaza) between 9am-Noon on this date.
Shipped entries will be accepted between August 25 and September 5.

Just got the news that the next BeerQuest is set. Here is the info. They have also updated their website.

Our next Beer Quest begins almost immediately. Registration will begin on Tuesday the 27th after the holiday - the best way to return to work after a long weekend is to spend your first 1/2 hour figuring out your recipe!

Beer Quest XperimentAle Details

Perhaps a better name for this would be "bring on the Gruit, Saison and pumpkin!"

For you early planners here's what we are thinking: As always we'll have a selection of malts and hops for you to choose from - all other ingredients are up to you. Adjuncts in any form are most welcome, sugars, other cereal grains, vegetables, fruit you name it. Spices and flavorings are also very welcome. Yeasts will be limited to Ale and beer strength and conditioning time for our production beer can not exceed 25 days - meaning no lagers or lacto/brett conditioning time
and no high gravity/high octane beers - 16 degrees Plato is the top end of gravity we want to see.
You'll have roughly 10 weeks to make your beers - beers will be due for the elimination round on August 13th.

Who can make the most exciting and drinkable beer from non-traditional (or very-traditional in an old-world sense) ingredients?

Think it over and if you want to throw your mash paddle into the mix look for the registration forms on our Beer Quest page next Tuesday at Noon.

State Fair Contest

So with what appears to be the impending move of the State Fair to Grand Island, have we seen the end of the beer and wine competition or will someone else pick up the torch or will Frank continue to run it. Personally, this is the only negative I could see with this move as the Fair was originally supposed to be about agriculture it will be able to return to those roots.

So what are some of your thoughts out there on the State Fair Beer and Wine competition? Will it continue? Will Frank still do it? Will the River City Round-up take over as the State's main competition if it hasn't already?

Don't even ask, I won't have the time to run that until my kids are much older. It would be something I would consider later in life but not now, sorry. :-)
