We have a great week of bottle releases, a gravity keg, and finishing up with probably the coolest Friday tapping party yet. You better read all this.
Tuesday bottle release
Goose Island Bourbon County COFFEE Stout. This is the same dark as night Imperial Stout we all know and love, but aged with Intelligentsia Black Cat espresso beans in a bourbon barrel. The coffee addition is a delicious component, and makes the beer a bit drier than the original. It might just be the best Bourbon stout to date. It has already shot up to the rank of 8th best beer on the planet on Beer Advocate, and is rated 100 on Rate Beer. This one is extremely rare, and we only received one case. Bring a friend, these come in 22oz bottles and weigh in at a measly 13% ABV.
Wednesday Franconian gravity keg
A traditional German gravity keg of Ahornberger Märzen will be tossed onto the bar top and tapped at 5 pm. "Brauerei Strössner, in Ahornberg, is a good-sized family-owned brewery making 80,000 hectoliters a year, founded in 1739. It's located in the far north of Franconia, north and east of Kulmbach. They do a bunch of seasonal variations on their basic Landbier ('country beer'), including the Märzen, which is described as malty, hoppy, and dark."
Thursday bottle release
Péché Mortel. More Imperial coffee stout, this time from the Canadian brewery, Dieu du Ciel. This is an incredibly complex and delicious beer with rich coffee flavor and aroma. This is the first time it has been available in Lincoln, and is served in a 11.5 oz bottle. "Péché Mortel (French for "Mortal Sin") is an intensely black and dense beer with very pronounced roasted flavors. Fair trade coffee is infused during the brewing process, intensifying the bitterness of the beer and giving it a powerful coffee taste. Péché mortel is brewed to be savored".
Friday double tapping party!
This is the coolest. We got our hands on two kegs of Mikkeller Single Hop IPA's, the 100% Amarillo IPA and the 100% Simcoe IPA. Mikkel is a gipsy-brewer, who brews at different breweries in Denmark, around Europe and the United States. These single hop versions were both brewed at the De Proef brewery in Belgium. We will be tapping both IPA's side by side, and letting them rip. Both of these single hop versions come with great accolades from both Beer Advocate and Rate Beer. This will be a blast.
