Bancroft Craft Beer Festival

Press Release

BANCROFT, Neb. -- Help choose the best beer in Nebraska at the 2nd annual Neihardt Foundation Beer Festival, Saturday, July 31, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Country Pub in Bancroft.

Participants in the festival will vote on the best Nebraska-brewed craft beer provided at the festival, as well as the best overall brew.

More than dozen craft breweries and distributors are participating, with more than 20 styles of unique lagers and ales being offered to sample. Appetizers are also available.

A local homebrewer, the Rev. Philip Hale, will also explain the craft.

The event is a fund-raiser for the John Neihardt State Historic Site in Bancroft. It also pays homage to the great love of beer of Neihardt, the poet laureate in perpetuity for Nebraska and the author of "Black Elk Speaks."

Bancroft is about 70 miles northwest of Omaha, just west of U.S. Hwy. 77.

Among the Nebraska breweries participating are Gottberg's of Columbus, Nebraska Brewing of Papillion, Upstream of Omaha, Spilker Ales of Cortland, Modern Monks of Lincoln and Lucky Bucket of LaVista. National breweries will also be represented.

Tickets cost $20. For $25, advance purchased tickets will include a free Neihardt glass mug. They can be ordered by calling the Neihardt Center, 1-888-777-4667, or from any foundation board member.

Designated drivers are admitted free, and rides home will be available.
