Brix and Stone in Lincoln

I was in Lincoln this weekend for the Husker game and on the way to meet a friend at Barry's I noticed what was a new restaurant to me, Brix and Stone.  It proudly proclaimed that it was a gastropub on the sign so my interests were captured.  I associated gastropubs with quality locally sourced food in a way tailored or paired with the beer or wine that they serve.  I also assume that since it is a pub, it should have a pretty good focus on beer.  Upon further research a gastropub is really supposed to be a pub that serves quality food, maybe not beer and food pairing specific or locally sourced but primarily a pub that serves quality food, not frozen mozzarella cheese sticks as an appetizer for example.

Unfortunately I was unable to go in the place because of my prior commitments, but upon walking by it did appear someone was drinking a North Coast Pranqster on the front patio, so some quality beer exists in there, which is promising.  I further researched the place on the internet today and found several articles, but this was the most comprehensive.  I was surprised that their quality food is "American comfort food."  I love a great fried chicken but that is something I would never had expected at a Gastropub, that isn't a good or bad statement either, just surprised.  Of course, the article mentions NOTHING of the beer list or wine list which clearly misses the boat on what a Gastropub is all about, the moniker clearly indicates there is another part of the place that needs reviewed.  We still have a long way to go Nebraska media outlets, can't expect much, the Today show routinely butchers beer stories.

All this being said, I can't wait to go check it out and I am curious if anyone in Lincoln has had a chance to give it a go?  What did you think?  Is it what you expected of a gastropub or did they miss the boat on the pub or food side?  What is the beer selection like?

It is not fairing well on the food side on Yelp...have to say that is what I was afraid of.

Thanks gang!
