Empyrean Beer Quest Tapping Party @ Bricktop

One mega update.

First-
This Friday will be a meet the brewer / tapping party for the draft version of the most recent Empyrean Beer Quest winning beer, and the brewer this time just happens to be me. A month ago I had the chance to brew my winning recipe with Empyrean brewer Sean Morrow on their big 15 barrel system. The beer is a Mochachino Milk Stout, brewed with cacao nibs, Cultiva free-trade coffee, vanilla beans, and black strap molasses. Milk Stout (aka Sweet Stout) is a sweeter version of a dry stout due to the use of lactose sugar, which is unfermentable to the yeast. The beer turned out fantastic, and I am very thankful for the great care and techniques Empyrean used to recreate my beer. I hope to see you all this Friday.

Second-
The Pints for Prostates benefit 'Drink Local' was a great time for all that attended last Sunday. **while supplies last** In an attempt to keep these great Nebraska beers flowing, and to raise a few more bucks for the charity, we will continue to offer these beers in the same format as at the event. $10 will get you a souvenir glass and 8 drink tickets good towards the 'Drink Local' beers, and we will also have more of the event t-shirts available for $10 as well.

Lastly-
Name change-ish...
Bricktop's craft beer side of things is making a change. Still in our infancy, the quest to bring Lincoln the best draft craft beer on the planet has been a success. The new goal is to grow this place, well, out of this place. We are not moving just yet, and it may be a while before we up and go, but we are starting this off by giving the “Craft Beer” business a new separate identity. From now on, we will refer to Bricktop Tap House as 'Derailleur Tap Room'. The name seems perfect for so many reasons, and will be a great fit for what we are trying to do.

(Bricktop as a night club will not change going forward, so don't worry your little dancing shoes one bit.)
