Beer Dumping Party Nov. 16th (Nebraska Brewing Company)

This should be pretty cool and I like the premise.  No brewer is above making bad beer, it happens, I love the fact that Nebraska Brewing Company is celebrating that fact and letting us share in their disappointment of dumping a batch of beer.  Here is the information on it.

After 3 Years of brewing out of the box, we Have Our First Experiment Gone South!
Thursday December 16th at 6 PM we will host, in conjunction with Richard Stuven of BeerMe.com, our very first ever dumping party!

Call it what you will but there comes a time in every brewery's life when a judgment call needs to be made. In our case, it happened with a very small experimental barrel aged beer - Noggin Fogger Scotch Ale aged in New Missouri Oak.

So, since we've never had a dumping party before - we're not sure what to expect, yet... We do know that we'll have some of this "stuff" for you to taste if you choose to but there are 2 basic rules.
~ You can't actually rate this beer on any of the online rating services (we already know it sucks)
and
~ you have to hold it down if you drink it!

Pretty simple huh?

So join us and www.BeerMe.com next Thursday followed by a viewing of BrewMasters at 7.

Sam just dumped $500,000 worth of beer last week - ours barely registers...

Ok, since this was uncharted water for us, I think we mis-stepped. I apologize on the call.

2 months ago, this beer totally sucked ass. It was the 3rd time we'd tasted this beer over its time in the barrel and we'd resigned ourselves to dumping this poor little experiment.

Fast forward to Friday... As we're emptying barrels for the Melange & Saison bottling, it came time to get the experiment from the oak barrel and into a keg for our little dumping party.

Moments prior to emptying, Tyson decided to taste it one last time - and get our final, personal laughs prior to execution.

As he raised an eyebrow and handed me the glass - it actually smelled pretty freakin' cool.
He had a smile on his face as I tasted it and remarked that this was a damn good beer...

So we kinda learned a few lessons here. First, don't rush things (it's now 8 months I think). Second, the maturation curve for barrel aged beer differs greatly from new oak through other variants. And maybe lastly, Vinnie said listen to your beer - it will tell you when it's ready.

This one was pretty tight lipped.

So we'll still have our little party - only it will be a Chili Vanilli party!
Cask Smoked Porter with Ancho Chili and cut Mexican Vanilla Beans.

Sometimes things just turn out for the best - stay tuned on our barrel project.

I guess we failed to fail.
