Odell Mountain Standard / De Molen Amarillo Tapping Parties @ Derailleur Tap Room. Plus more...

This week we will have two very cool tapping parties, plus a boatload of mayhem next week as well at the Derailleur Tap Room.

This Wednesday (December 15th), we will be tapping this year’s 'Mountain Standard' from Odell Brewing Co. This is the second in the series which changes style each year, with the 2010 version being a 9.5% ABV Double Black IPA. Until now, this was only available in our market in 750ml bottles, we are very excited to have this one on draft. From the breweries website "As the Colorado hop growers prove they can produce world class hops, we as a Colorado Craft Brewer want to showcase what our state can offer, not only with our hand crafted beers, but also with the ingredients used in creating them. Mountain Standard, Double Black IPA, features the homegrown hops our Brewers helped pick from farms along Colorado’s western slope. MST pours committingly dark with a light tan head and a slightly roasted hoppy nose. An ephemeral bitterness, the result of combining roasted malts with an assertive American hop profile, contributes to MST’s act of balance and harmony. As the season’s darkness sets in, why shouldn’t your beer become darker too?".

This Friday will be a blast at Derailleur. We will be celebrating our good friend Patrick's birthday while getting into a delicious Double IPA that he requested, this time from the De Molen Brewery out of Holland. 'Amarillo' is bursting with hop aroma, but offering incredibly smooth hop bitterness with loads of fruit and floral hop flavor backed by a nice caramel malt character. From the breweries website "This beer got its name from the American hop used in the brewing process. Amarillo is a powerful hop in aroma, flavour and bitterness. But of course we used other hops as well creating a beautiful combination. Not a beer to drink as a session beer but one to enjoy."

MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR NEXT TUESDAY!! (December 21st) Paul DeVries from Goose Island will be in house to host a Bourbon County Brand Stout vertical tasting starting at 6pm, including the '07, '08, 09', & '10 bottled vintages, as well as '09 & '10 on draft. We will also dabble in a few of the recent versions (Vanilla, Coffee, and maybe even Rare;). Samples will be limited, so get here early, doors open at 5pm.

AND NEXT WEDNESDAY TOO!! (December 22nd) We will be tapping the latest from the New Belgium Lips of Faith series that was brewed in collaboration with Allagash Brewing Co. out of Portland, Maine. 'Vrienden' is a Wild Ale (sour) made with hibiscus flower, Brettanomyces, and Lactobacillus. Yum..
