Extreme Beer Fest recap and photos

Another year in the books for Extreme Beer Fest and it was a great time!  Special thanks to the Crescent Moon crew for allowing us a booth at the event and thanks to the breweries for letting us sell their merchandise.  It was a huge success and we hope we can repeat it at events for the foreseeable future and get you that great merch. in one easy location.

The beer selection was amazing from all over the place and I don't think I had a bad beer anywhere.  I know I missed a few that I should have had but I wanted to keep my wits about me and needed to drive home after a long day so it made sense.  A few of my favorites came from local places.  I really enjoyed Nebraskadian Dark Ale from Nebraska Brewing Company.  It is by far and away the best Black IPA I have had, I was beginning to wonder if I would even like the style, if it really is a style.  I also loved the Riverboat Grand Cru from Upstream.  I love me some sour and that was great.  One of the highlights for a lot of people there, especially considering the availability of it was Boulevard Chocolate Ale.  It was one of, if not the best chocolate beers I have ever had.  I doubt I could drink much more than a pint but I know my wife would pick up the slack.  I would then be picking her up because at 9% it will knock you down.

It seemed that throughout the night, the booths with the longest lines were Nebraska Breweries and Nebraska homebrewers.  Much props to the SOBs, The Railroaders, the German Society(sorry, your name is really long and I don't know German) and The Brewing Network.  You guys really threw down some solid beer and the lines proved it.

A great event and one that should be attended by all, just be smart about how much you drink, these beers are all about 7% I believe and can really kick you in the pants fast!

You gotta love a strong beer fest where they let you carry a working broadsword in with you. Whoever caused the early shutdown was a minor inconvenience - most people were well along by that time. The crowd was great, generally mannerly, and the beer selection was surprising - thanks for the gueuze!!! and Westmalle and Monks and brew clubs! My comment for next year is that the location of the food concessions caused too much congestion for the beer tables in the corners. Maybe put the food booths in the lobby. Overall, cool event, plenty of beer, and nice folks. Cheers, TPJ

Every vendor should have a dump station. In previous years they were small and on the tables, this year they were upgraded to 5 gallon buckets, but few and far between. I was amazed by the reasonable prices from the food vendor. I had fries for $2 and they were good.
