Iphone and Android Apps
I have been doing a little research and feel that it is about time to take our blog mobile. I personally use an Ipod touch to surf often and websites that don't accomadate annoy me more and more. I think it would be also very useful if out and about to get quick and easy access to our blog posts and events calendar in one easy location along with maybe some pictures and misc. other things.
First of all, is this something that interests you the reader of the blog? If it does, would you pay for it, no more then $.99? Would an Apple app, or Android app make the most sense to start?
Thanks for your help on this. I would ask one last favor of you readers out there, does anyone have an apple developer account that would be willing to help us get it to the app store? At $99 for the developer account that makes it cost prohibitive for us, unless 100 of you sign up for it of course. I am not sure what the Android platform entails but will need help with that as well.
Look forward to seeing everyone that can make it to the Extreme Beer Festival this weekend. I have heard of some great beers already and can't wait to try them. Don't forget we will have swag there to purchase, glassware, shirts and maybe more. We will also have ladies apparel so don't feel left out!

I think that a mobile version of your site would be a much better idea than an iOS app.
Mobile versions of your web page would be usable on all smart phones, not just iPhones/iPods.
iOs/Android App developer here, and I agree with id. Unless you have something new to offer, a mobile version is a superior offering to a vanilla app.
I am looking into this, the problem is blogger is a pain with this type of stuff. We eventually will migrate to wordpress and our own host but that isn't in the cards right now. I am looking into blogger work arounds though, so keep your fingers crossed. If you know any tips send me an email on the contact us link. Thanks.
We should be good now, tell me how it looks. It works on my Ipod.
I currently use google reader on my android and am pretty happy with that right now. A mobile website isn't a bad idea though.
I agree with id and Shawn... and notice you've updated based on those suggestions. I'm posting this from my iPod and I think the site looks really great on it now!
I would be more willing to donate to get you guys dedicated hosting before paying for a mobile app. Just saying...
Dedicated hosting would be awesome and now that I got the mobile thing figured out I think that should be our next step. Hopefully the t-shirt sales go well this weekend and we can get a couple more advertisers.
Usually my mobile consumption is through a rss reader on my phone which works pretty well for me so I probably wouldn't go for a standalone app (even if you had mentioned my platform of choice).
That said, the site looks pretty good right now on my phones webkit based browser.
-sent from my Palm Pre.
