Beertopia news and Stone news

Here is the latest Beertopia news, I want to point out their promotion to bring Stone to Nebraska.  Be sure to read it and participate.

New beers on tap this week in the Crescent Moon….
  •   Odell’s Myrcenary Double IPA is a new year round offering from Odell’s. From their website; Named for Myrcene, a component of essential oils in the hop flower, Myrcenary Double IPA is a tribute to those who revere the illustrious hop, and their unyielding exploit to craft hop forward beers. Brewed with a blend of hops containing the highest levels of Myrcene, this double IPA prevails with a tropical fruit-like flavor, a pungent floral aroma, and a clean getaway. 9.3% ABV It will also be next Tuesday’s Pint Night at the Moon.
  • Other New Beers on tap this week include:
  • Boulevard's Spring Seasonal Boss Tom's Golden Bock, just in time for our Bockfest.
  • Sprecher's Black IPA, a new draft only offering from this Milwaukee Brewer.
  • New Belgium's Lips of Faith Dunkelweiss returns for an encore showing.
  • Upstream Brewing Co's Dundee Scotch Ale returns to the lineup.

News from the Beertopia side of the tracks

We have received some pretty special beers this week.
  • First off, Boulevard Imperial Stout has come in. This 750ml elixir is sure to excite any stout fan (me)! This beer is partially aged in Jack Daniels and Heaven Hill barrels then blended back to the original batch. This is BIG on flavor with whiskey, roast, coffee and a touch of smokiness. Man, this is one I can’t wait to try after a year or so of cellaring!
  • Next off we will receive a few new Lakefront beers. These 3 beers all come in 22oz bomber bottles. The first one is a fantastic return of Bridge Burner. This is an American Strong ale and has the likens to a certain arrogant beer you may have heard of. If not, come in to the store and grab one.
  • 2nd beer is called Fixed Gear. This is an American Amber that is loaded with hop character. At 6.5% ABV, this is a charmer. The malt backbone creates a very interesting flavor of bread and caramel.
  • 3rd beer is called Rendezvous. This is a French style Bier de Garde. This one has the breadiness that creates a sweet palate and finishes a touch dry due to the yeast being used. At 7.2% ABV, this one should not be taken lightly.
  • Sam Adams is well known for there many beer styles. Every year they ask homebrewers from around the states to enter their Long Shot competition. Well, this years brood will arrive on Friday. The first one is called Friar Hop Ale. It is inspired by the American IPA and Belgian style Trippel. In essence, it is a Belgian IPA.
  •  The second beer is a Blackened Hops. Dark, roasty, hoppy….who can resist?
  • The 3rd installment is Honey B’s Lavender  ale. You will find this beer does have that lavender spice but, you must be looking for it. Malty backbone and 5.5% ABV make this a unique ale….leave it up to Sam Adams to break new ground in brewing.
  • Sams has also released their 4th installment into the big beer series. Wee Heavy…this beer has a pronounced sweetness followed by a peaty palate. If you like smoky scotch whisky, then you will like the peatiness here. 10% ABV does show itself as it warms but isn’t off putting. Big Beer here!

There are a few things happening here at the store that we need your help on!
First- We are still looking for you and your artistic abilities to garner Stone Brewing to Nebraska. All’s we ask of you is to create a drawing, complex or not, created with crayons. We know that anyone can send an e-mail, write a letter or call a brewery and ask them for the goods. But, Beertopia needs to be a bit out of kilter in a lot of things we do. So, we came up with the crayon idea…crazy? yes, goofy? yes, unique? Absolutely! Please help us bring these very sought after beers to Nebraska. Even if you have never heard of Stone, that’s OK too! If you help us, you will be rewarded with a very fine product!

We have several spots left for our Beer School. If you or anyone you know wants to learn more about beers and the history of our wonderful elixir, sign-up for our classes. They start April 4th with a visit to Upstream Legacy. There, Mike Hall will help guide us through the brewing process and all the while be sampling beers at its most freshest point. Then on 5 consecutive Mondays, we will host the tastings at Max-n-Joe’s here at Crescent Moon. 8-10 samples will be provided along with snacks that are regional to each beer. Cost is 15$ each or all 6 for 80$. Stop into the store for more details…

Thanks for the ear and eyes on another long winded Beertopia post!!!
