Avery Leaving Nebraska

photo: colorado.edu

We received an email in regards to this yesterday.  So, I talked to a couple of “in the know” people that work in the beer industry, and they confirmed the same.

It seems the decision was made a few days ago.  However, they mentioned Avery would like to reenter the Nebraska market in 18 months.

Supposedly, it’s not just Nebraska, but 15 other states/markets they are pulling out of.  My guess is they are having trouble keeping up with production, and need to rethink their strategy.

Regardless of the reason(s), this is a blow to craft beer in Nebraska.  I would suggest you contact them via Facebook, email, and/or phone and let them know.

We were successful in keeping Great Divide in Nebraska, and maybe we can do the same with Avery.

Also, we have an email into Avery requesting confirmation of this information.

Here is a list of all the US states and what breweries are pulling out and going in. So Nebraska isn't the only one losing breweries. There are few missing.

I have been told Nebraska will be getting Great River Brewing out of Davenport, IA in the next few weeks. They package 4pk 16oz cans with an Red ale, Pale ale, and Coffee Stout. Good stuff

wow, that really blows. avery was one of the best things nebraska had going for it and sadly people never seemed to realize it. if avery, only 500 miles away, has to pull out, why would stone even bother? talk about depressing news. ugh.

there hasn't been a great brewery addition to nebraska since north coast a couple of years ago. what has to happen to add stone, victory, dogfish head, etc?

Here is a great article from El Bait Shop in Des Moines. Which is one of the best beer bars in the Midwest if not the entire country. It is about the topic of losing regional breweries.
