Below is the Beertopia email they send out about once a week I believe. I highly recommend you get on their email list by stopping down and signing up. In the email they mention the controversy of Werner Park not serving Nebraska beer. I am currently working on a story and researching it as best I can to get all the info out before I post anything. I want you to know that more information is coming but please do join the links provided and send your messages on to them. I have a response from Martie Cordaro and will be sharing it in the article. Based on that letter, I think more can be done so please contact them and do what you can.
News from our bars at The Beer Corner…
We are a little disappointed to say the least at the decision of Werner Park, home of the Omaha Storm Chasers, to NOT carry any Nebraska brewed beers. They are opening a Craft Beer bar within the park and apparently made the decision to exclude all Nebraska brewed beers including Lucky Bucket and Nebraska Brewing Co. beers even though these beers are brewed in their own backyard. As craft beer fans and baseball fans we feel that a local home town ballpark should have a local brew on tap. If you feel the same, drop them a line and let them know. There is a Storm Chasers facebook page and also a “I want Lucky Bucket at Werner Park” facebook page where you can voice your opinion. You may also call the Storm Chasers front office at 402-734-2550 and talk to, or leave a message for, the General Manager Martie Cordaro. If there are enough of us that speak up maybe they’ll reconsider.Upcoming events in the Crescent Moon….
- We are proud to announce we just installed a new beer engine in the Moon. So to celebrate this Friday we will have a special cask night. The folks from Empryean are bringing us a cask of their Collapser Bourbon Oatmeal Stout. Beer will start to flow at 4pm on Friday. Cask beer is different, it undergoes a secondary fermentation inside the cask allowing the beer to naturally develop carbonation, it is the freshest beer you can get and has a fairly short shelf life therefore is typically served close to the Brewery, it is unique, there are special nuances of aroma, flavor and character in a cask conditioned ale that are not found in any other type of beer. Come on in and give it a try. We will be hand pumping beer from more casks on this Beer engine on a regular basis so look for future casks to come from Upstream, Empryean, and possibly other Breweries.
- Tuesday April 19th we will run a shuttle from the Moon down to TD Ameritrade Park for the Creighton vs. Nebraska baseball game. The shuttle will leave at 6:30 and drop us off at the front door. Come on in and have a couple of beers and leave the driving to someone else. You will have 15 minutes after the game ends to catch the return ride back to the Moon.
New beers on tap in the Crescent Moon….
Oak Aged Chocolate Yeti Imperial Stout from Great Divide is back. My favorite from the Yeti clan,it is toned down the on the hops a bit to allow cocoa nibs to contribute some pleasing bitterness, while vanilla notes from the oak combine with the cocoa to create an aroma and flavor akin to a gourmet chocolate bar. A dash of cayenne keeps things lively, adding just a bit of heat to the finish. A Yeti for summer? Hell yes. 9.5% ABV.

News from Beertopia....
After the last few weeks, we needed to recover from all these wicked-wonderful beers. Alas, we recieved just a few newbies this week.
- SKA Brewing released their 12 packs!!! They contain Modus, True Blonde and ESB. Theses babies are just $15.69 each!!
- New Belgium has released their latest Lips of Faith beer called La Terroir. This is a sour beer that has been dry hopped. This is a nice zinger with the hop character of a pale ale. Very tasty and it is flying out the door fast!
- Great Divide has sent us their latest and greatest Chocolate Yeti. This is a monster good stout with a slight hint of heat due to the fact that they add a little cayanne pepper into the batch.
Not really a ton to chat about this week....
We want to thank all of you for selling out the Spring Session of Beer School. If you were not able to sign-up for this session, we will be running another session sometime late summer...
Have a super dee do week!!!
