Jake's Beer Update... I Have a new beer job:)
Jake's has been doing a great job serving the Lincoln and Omaha craft beer drinkers for quite some time now, and I am very excited to announce that I will be coming on board to help them out. In case you have not stopped in at either location lately, there is a lot happening.
LINCOLN JAKE'S:
With the recent installation of a permanent beer engine, the Lincoln Jake's has been celebrating the glory of Real Ale with casks from Tallgrass, Empyrean and the like. This Thursday (June 30th) will be a special tapping party for a delicious cask conditioned firkin of Summit Brewing Company's India Pale Ale. A traditional English version made with the classic East Kent Golding hops known for their amazing floral character.
This Friday will be the return of my Friday tapping parties, and we will be getting down with a delicious keg of Amager 'Sundby Stout'. This is a phenomenal 6.2% ABV American-style Stout brewed in Kastrup, Denmark. Great complexity of caramel, dark chocolate and roasted coffee with a piney/citrusy American hop backbone. This beauty goes on tap at 4pm (July 1st).
Next Friday (July 8th) will be a very special tapping/meet the brewers party with Lucky Bucket Brewing Co. In early May, I had the great pleasure of brewing my favorite Rye Saison recipe with the LB boys up in Omaha. I hear it turned out great, so please mark you calendar to join us for this special tapping party. Come down and share a pint with the LB crew!
Many more special tapping parties are already lined up, so stay tuned.
I have been given the green light to work on creating a world class bottle selection, so be sure to check out the coolers. All bottles are available for your enjoyment in the bar.
OMAHA JAKE'S:
Not to be outdone by the Lincoln location, Omaha has recently expanded their tap capacity from 12 handles (2 nitro) to 24 handles (4 nitro). They have also installed their own permanent beer engine, and have delicious Real Ale flowing from the hand pump. Right now they are featuring Tallgrass 'Neil Young', a lighter version of Buffalo Sweat conditioned with cacao nibs and vanilla beans.
Plenty of tapping parties are in the works for Omaha as well, so again, stay tuned.
Be sure to check out the ever changing beer coolers in the retail area, beer manager Alex Diimig has been compiling a top notch bottle selection that of course can also be enjoyed in the bar.
Cheers!

This is great news Jason! Congrats! I look forward to having a beer with you at Jake's one of these days.
Does Neil Young remember that the Southern Man don't need him around anyhow?
Congrats, Jason.
Keep fighting the good fight my friend.
I would love to frequent Jake's but the smoke is TOO much. I think you'd have even more success if you went smoke free like all the other bars.
Mike, just in case you have not been to the Lincoln location in a while, they have installed a new casino style HVAC system that really helps with the smoke. The tap room of the Omaha location is completely smoke-free however, they have a seperate bar for cigars.
Good the hear about the changes in Lincoln.
Omaha's location is very tolerable smoke-wise whenever I'm there.
I really like the additional taps in Omaha, and the LCD screen with the listings. However, the screen needs to updated with accurate info on each beer -- e.g., 4 out of 5 hops leafs for Anchor Steam :)
