This Friday (July 22nd) at Jake's Lincoln will be a fun celebration for a great homebrewer Aaron Carnes and Empyrean Brewing Co. A few times a year, the guys at Empyrean host an event called Beer Quest, where 21 homebrewers set off to create an award winning beer. The entrants are narrowed down to 10 brewers by a panel of accredited beer judges, and then later served to the public for yet another round of voting to crown the ultimate winner. The prize? The winner gets to recreate their winning beer at Empyrean on the big 15 barrel system. Jake's is very lucky to get their hands on a keg of the newest champion's creation 'Extra Special Red', a hoppy English-style amber ale with toasty and biscuity malt flavors balanced perfectly with the floral character of East Kent Golding hops and just a hint of pine from the kiss of American Chinook hops.
