I was thinking the same thing to myself. I wonder if it's someone's private stash.

I believe this is illegal if they are selling tickets to the event. The state of Nebraska received no taxes paid from the brewery or distribitor if it is bootlegged into the state. Unless the particapting breweries get a special liscence from the Liqour Commission. If I was the owner of the Dundee Dell I would get confirmation this is legal. The Liqour Commission can get after you if you don't follow the law.

The Dell runs a tight ship, so I would assume it's legit.

We just had a beer fest with beers not distributed here, so there are ways around it legally. I would hope they went through the proper channels and problem did. Be aware, distributors do read this blog and would be the first to raise a stink about it.

Having a private stash and selling tix for them is not exactly legit. Especially if it is through an establishment with a liquor license...

Wow. Taking my speculation as face value. I'm more convincing than I thought .

Why do you care how they got the beer? I will let business do their business and I will enjoy the beer. This is about the beer and those look like great beers and something i would love to go try. If they choose to do something that may or may not be legit, that is their decision for our benefit.

If there is concern of collecting taxes and distributor fees on a total of probably a 12 pack of beer let the state worry about it and enjoy the beer while you can. If you don't care about the beer and are more concerned about the government and the mini gov't(distributor) getting paid, well, I guess we know where you stand.

I just don't understand why a fan of beer would at all be concerned that something was on the up and up.

+1, Nate. Well put.

Once again this blogger misses the point. I can tell you don't have a clue about anything other than if a beer is good. This industry is business that employes many people nationwide. There are laws for a reason.

This is my first post on this issue. Laws are laws. I remember you mentioning you work in the insurance industry a while back. What if another company started providing illegal services? This not only has to do with taxes paid but playing fair. There are plenty of great beer bars now and they follow the law.

If want to try these beers not avaiable in Nebraska find someone to trade. Visit a distributing state. Don't break the law. If you have an opinion so may the rest of us.

I guarantee if the Liquor Commossion found out about this a fine Or a suspension of license would occur. As far as last weekends Beerfest goes each brewery that doesn't distribute in Nebraska had to pay a one time fee to be able to sample beer. This was the first time that has ever been allowed.

You seem like an individual that likes to push your ill-informed opinions on others. So keep doing it and many of us will get a good laugh. Thanks again for entertaining us all.

What's entertaining is that you post under "Anonymous." Contact us via email or meet us face-to-face...anything. Stop hiding. I would like to find out why you have such a hard-on for us.

I would love to have a face to face but I work for a large beer distributor locally. I have a high profile position currently but should be moving to a much large market soon. Trust me I would love to have a nice friendly discussion to set the record straight.

I won't say I have a hard-on for you personally just how decided to provide information to public. Anyone can type information and post it but it just seems like you were advocating to break the law.

I think the first anonymous post (which wasn't me) was just making sure the bar knew the law. You would be surprised how many bar/restaurant owners don't know what is illegal. It seems like you guys went on the attack.

Obviously I read the blog and haven't commented on much since you stop posting incorrect information. But this is entirely different topic. The law is law.

I like the tone of your last post a lot better. I'm all for finding common ground. Let us know.

We started this blog because nobody ever took on the task of comprehensively reporting craft beer news in our state.

We'll take the good comments with the bad, if that's what it'll take to inform and educate imbibers of craft beer.

I withdrew my last post because you posted in between and as Nick said, put it much better then in your previous post.

We would love to work with the collective you in the future to better beer in the state. My frustration comes from the fact that we get attacked on here about this stuff when all we want is better beer in the state. Then when someone does something creative and fun like this, instead of try to make it work, it is pointed out that it is illegal and should be shut down.

To me that isn't a collaborative working environment. As you said, they may not know, if they don't let's educate them, but don't shut it down and not let an event like this occur that grows good beer fans.

We just have different perspectives and communicating them in written form screws them up and can become confrontational, for that I apologize, just frustrated by accusations claiming we don't get it.

The problem that has occurred in this industry is the appearance of an inability or unwillingness of distributors to want to work with brewers unless they are big. I understand the finances of it, but that is where you lose us. If the finances dictate you can't dedicate appropriate resources to properly sell the craft beer product and market new product then let them do it themselves, let the laws change to allow the small guys to do that work instead of paying for it to be distributed and not marketed. They are paying a fee to basically be shipped and that is it if there isn't a collaboration to make sure the product is marketed fairly.

It all comes down to money and money drives this boat, I am capitalist too, but essentially the system makes it extremely difficult for the small guys to do anything. I would love to start a small(very small) local brewery and sell it to just the bars here but because I can't deliver the kegs directly to the door and keep all the money it will not make financial sense to do it. The laws prevent/inhibit small business from starting up. Put a cap on it and make them use a distributor when they reach a certain level that makes financial sense for you and them but gives them an option until then. There are states out there like this, it works.

Those are my thoughts, thanks for letting us pull your ear, whether you agree or not. My hopes are you heard a little bit of what we said.
