Why didn't anyone think of this for yesterday!? |
The inaugural Lucky Bucket Ride was yesterday. The ride started at Bellevue Berry Farm and proceeded, with a nice tailwind, along the West Papio Trail and some gravel roads to the brewery. The gravel roads were a bit hairy for a few people, especially those on road tires. Maybe it wasn't the absolute best route for beginner cyclists, but it was certainly better than staying on flat bike paths if you ask my opinion. We hung out at the brewery for a while and enjoyed free Lucky Bucket beer and a tour of the facility. I must say, the brewery has grown by leaps and bounds since the last time I was there. I mean, I knew that they had installed some larger fermenters and got a new bottling line and what not, but knowing is not quite the same as standing right next to the 150 barrel cylindroconicals. Holy moly! I also had the chance to try the Cherry Lambic we told you about last week. It was absolutely fantastic! I love my sour beers, but many times one glass is plenty. This lambic had me wanting another glass immediately. After the tours, people started heading back to Bellevue Berry Farms. Some used an alternate route to avoid the gravel and the rest of us enjoyed the gravel again. All of us "enjoyed" some rain on the way back (which reminds me that I need to re-oil my chain now!). There was an after party back at the berry farms for the Husker game though I didn't stick around so I can't comment on that portion of the evening.
Overall, I thought the event was a blast and I look forward to participating again next year!

I was trying to get a good picture of the line of cyclists behind me. Obviously I didn't have a lot of success. |
Who's the dude with the funny bike? I hope he's not related to me somehow! |

Great write-up and photos. Wish I could have made it for the ride.
