LINCOLN, NE – Nebraska’s oldest and largest brewery comes of age. Empyrean Brewing Co. will be celebrating their 21st birthday on Friday, February 17th at a party hosted by Jake’s Cigars and Spirits.
The brewery started out as a small outfit brewing just enough beer to quench the thirst of diners at Lazlo’s Brewery & Grill. The brewery quickly separated from the landmark restaurant as its own incorporation. Over the years, distribution has grown to include all of Nebraska, Iowa, North Dakota and South Dakota.
“It’s our attention to quality ingredients and our focus on flavor and freshness that make our brands so desirable.” explains Head Brewer Rich Chapin, who has been with the company since its start in 1990. “Empyrean ales are flavorful and designed to complement Midwestern tastes.”
Packaging more than 5,500 barrels of beer each year, Empyrean Brewing Co. offers eight to ten varieties at any one time. Eleven of these are bottled on site and distributed in six and 12-pack cases year round, while seasonal selections are available on draught in limited quantities locally.
The public is invited to attend the celebration at Jake’s Cigars and Spirits (located on the corner of 14th and P in downtown Lincoln) and have a chance to meet the brewers and other brewery staff. Five different Empyrean beers will be on hand, including the brand new Limited IPA and the popular seasonal Fallen Angel Sweet Stout. Gathering starts around 5:00 PM.

It's really unfortunate that this great event has to be held at the only establishment in town that allows smoking. Believe it or not, people don't go there because of this, even though the best beer selection on tap in town.
