2012 Nebraska Shootout Results!

The 2012 Nebraska Shootout is in the books, and it was the closest battle yet. 4 clubs were in a tie for second, with everything coming down to the “Best Damn Beer” tie breaker (SOB's, Kearney Area Brewers, Railroaders, & Elkhorn Valley Society of Brewers).

A special congratulations goes out to Brian Haas from the Elkhorn Valley Society of Brewers club. Brian's Hefeweizen won Category 15, and then went on to win Best of Show, getting his club an extra point to advance them into the 4-way tie for second.

Another congratulations goes out to Brian Collins of the South Omaha Brewers, whose Rye IPA not only won the “Best Damn Beer”, but also tied the highest score of the event with a 42.

A special thanks to the 15 judges and 6 stewards that were able to find time during a busy holiday weekend to judge this fun event. And thanks to Misty's Steakhouse/Modern Monks Brewery for the great location and hospitality, as well as the club members that made the long trip to Lincoln, especially the Broken Bow and Kearney brewers!

A special thanks to goes out to all the Nebraska homebrew clubs, judges, stewards, and the Bricktop Tap House for making this event a success.

There were exactly 50 entries between 8 homebrew clubs, all from the state of Nebraska.

Looks like the Nebraska brewers are getting better all the time. Even though the Lagers won again all those other clubs are showing they are a force to be dealt with. Sorry I missed it this year.
