Mark your calendars for the 5th annual Neihardt Foundation Beer Fest in Bancroft, the home of the John Neihardt State Historical Site.

The Fest features over 30 styles of beer at the extremely affordable cost of $20 in advance and at the door, which includes appetizers.

It is a fund-raiser for the Neihardt Center. The Beer Fest on Saturday, Aug 4 is held the night before the annual Neihardt Day program at the center.

Last year, we added a Beer Limerick Contest, which was a huge hit. Neihardt, best known as the author of "Black Elk Speaks," loved beer and liked to write limericks!

The crowd also chooses the best overall beer, and a panel of local celebrities pick the best Nebraska-brewed beer.

We offer rides to nearby motels if samplers need that. This has become a very fun event in a true, small-town beer drinking town. Free camping in local park, about 70 miles north of Omaha.

The Beer Fest will be held from 6:30 p.m. till 8:30 or so in the beer garden of the Country Pub Steakhouse in Bancroft.
