This Friday (4/5) at both Lincoln & Omaha Jake's locations will be a very special tapping party for the most recent Empyrean Beer Quest winning beer, a Green Tea Pale Ale, brewed by Empyrean Brewing Company and winning homebrewers Bill Luhman and Aaron Carnes.
For those who have never heard of Beer Quest, it is an Empyrean Brewing Company quarterly event which starts with 21 homebrewers going head to head in a private competition judged by certified beer judges, with the top 10 beers moving on to the Beer Quest public event. Brewers in this final round serve their beer and speak with the public about what processes and techniques they used to make their beer unique. The publics job is to try each one of the beers and rank the brewers in order of favorite. The winner of the public tasting is crowned the winning brewer/brewers, and awarded the opportunity to brew the winning recipe on Empyrean's big brewery system.
Brewery description: "Our February Beer Quest Spring Ale winners were Aaron Carnes and Bill Luhman. They beat out a field of wonderful fruit, herb and spice beers with their Green Tea Pale Ale. Brewed to display everything we love about the Pale Ale style; simple bready and caramel base with bright citrus hop aromas and flavors. The Japanese Sencha green tea is added to the beer several days before we keg it giving it just a hint of green tea that balances perfectly with the citrus aromas and flavors of the hops."
