Borgata Brewery & Distillery Announces Old Market Location

Omaha entrepreneurs Zac Triemert and Holly Mulkins are launching Borgata, Omaha’s newest craft brewery and distillery.  The business will include a 9,000-square-ft manufacturing brewery and distillery along with a tasting room to accommodate approximately 100 guests.

Headquartered in the heart of the Old Market at 1116 Jackson (currently Second Chance Antiques), Borgata’s Omaha operation will include a packaging and canning line brewery and a separate distillery area featuring large custom-made copper stills and whisky barrel storage.  

Borgata’s tasting room will offer a view of the copper stills alongside the uniquely Old Market interior of exposed brick, steel, and wood.  As part of the space’s renovation, the original 1924 structure will be exposed and will feature a serving bar and table seating. Patrons will also be able to enjoy Borgata’s unique beers and small-batch spirits alfresco on a front patio.

In response to the current farm-to-table movement and the demand for fresh, all-natural cuisine, Triemert and Mulkins anticipate the Old Market retail location will also offer small-bite dishes made from ingredients sourced primarily from local farmers and local independent restaurants.

Triemert and Mulkins anticipate Borgata, named for an Italian word meaning “family,” will begin serving Omahans in November 2013 and follow up in distributing beer and spirits throughout the Midwest by Spring of 2014.

“I like the idea of a company that can become a real part of Omaha’s landscape and traditions. In creating Borgata, we wanted to add to the country’s growing awareness and appreciation for Omaha,” said Mulkins.

Triemert said he and Mulkins are looking forward to offering a variety of unique beverages, some of which have not been produced in Nebraska, and not even in the United States. “We will be bringing new ideas into the ever-growing beer scene,” he said “I’m also excited on the spirits front - Borgata will initially focus on whiskys and we plan to release the first globally sourced vatted all-malt whisky.”

Construction of the facility will commence over the next six months.
