Have you been to Upstream lately? Mike Hall and his crew have been crafting some tasty beers in the last year. They usually have about four different seasonal beers on tap at both locations. Here is the latest two at the West Center location.
Fri, Sep 3, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Wolfgang North German Pilsner
Pilsner is arguably the most successful beer style in the world. Nine out often beers drunk in the world today are made according to the Pilsner style. Pilsner is a very blond, brilliantly clear, moderately effervescent lager, modeled largely after a beer style invented in 1842 in the Czech city of Pilsen by Josef Groll who later took his beer to Germany. Pilsner is often strongly hopped. North German Pilsners emerged in the north of Germany from a small town named Jever. Upstreams flavorful North German style Pilsner starts off with a deep golden color, it is light to medium in malt body and flavor with an assertive kiss of hop's to give this fantastic beer its elegant signature. Drink UP! 5.3 ABV, 30 IBU, 1.049 SG.
Schnitzengiggle Roggenbier
Roggenbier is a medieval ale usually made from a grain bill of about half barley malt and rye malts. Being ancient brews, Roggenbiers have a faint whiff of earthiness in the nose. The up-front sensation is one of mild fruitiness tangled with a slight bready note in the middle, and an almost smoky, spicy, and very dry finish-clearly the effects of the rye malt. The Effervescence is spritzy like a Hefeweizen and has a pleasant, rich, off-white head when poured. Please enjoy this refreshing late summer offering from your brewers at Upstream and Drink Up! 4% ABV, 11 IBU, 1.040 SG.
