Some new beers in Nebraska

Brix announced some new beers in Nebraska today.

The most famous beer from Utah (and there is such a thing) is now available in Nebraska.  Polygamy Porter from Wasatch arrived recently along with fellow label mates Devastator Doppelbock, White Label Wit and Pumpkin Ale.  Reviews for these beers on rating websites like BeerAdvocate.com are generally positive and hover around a “B” average.
Also from Utah is Squatters.  Currently only two of their offerings are in Nebraska, a Double IPA called Hop Rising and a Belgian-style beer called Hell’s Keep.  Hop Rising is sold in six-packs (unusual for a DIPA) and the latter is available in 750ml bottles.  Not sure on the timeline yet for the rest of the Squatters beers but the arrival of two fine Utah breweries is a welcome addition to the Nebraska beer scene.

Here is a list of some new beers available at Beertopia.

New beers galore this last 10 days!!!
Sierra Nevada has released 2 of there very fine fall seasonals. First of which is their Chico Estate Harvest ale. This beer represents all that Sierra has become known for. ALL of the ingredients are grown on their own personal land, hence estate ale. This is very fine rendition of a fresh hopped ale. This one is in very limited release so do not hesitate!

Next form Sierra is their Northern Hemisphere Harvest Ale. This is another “harvest” style beer in which all the ingredients have come from…you guessed it…the Northern Hemisphere! Wet hopping adds so much flavor and aroma that it is almost obscene!!! The hops hang on the palate for a considerable time!! MMMMM…hops galore…

Boulevard Amber is a new beer as well. This has a very copper hue along with a malty aroma presence. Hops play a secondary roll but are present in a slightly spicy way…

Sam Adams has done a lot of different beers over the years. With that said, Latitude 48 is their first IPA. This is a darker than normal IPA with a lot of NW hop character. Strong piney and grapefruit nose, although not overwhelming like some others. The noble hop character is also present, spicy, earthy notes as well.

Rogue Creek is the next evolution from the Chateau series. This is a Belgian style dubble brewed with real cherries. This beer may sound like it should be tart and stingy, but alas the cheery flavors are a touch sweet and smooth. The mouthfeel is considered “fluffy” form a Beer Advocate dude…

Next from Rogue is their McRogue Scotch ale. This comes in the 7oz bottle variety. Whispy white head that dissipates into the beer leaving some lacing as it goes down. Malty profile with an alcohol touch. The readings on the bottle to tell you to lay this beer down for a year…who the h&ll wants to do that??? Sorry for my “uncoothness”. Buy this, drink it or store it, either way this is a nice beer.

Guinness has released a very fine stout to the US. Foreign Extra Stout brewed in St. James Gate Dublin has been released. The unmalted roastiness is very dominate in this one. 7.5% ABV hits as well. Dry, roasty, smooth and deceptive. Get this one quick if you all are a Guinness fan!

We will be receiving a whole slew of new beers this week from Thomas Creek out of Greenville South Carolina.
1.    River Falls Red Ale- Malty/toffey nose and bready nose cornerstone this beer.  This beer hits home considering the Irish Red Ale motto. Very approachable and easy to drink.
2.    Class Five IPA- Malty and piney hoppiness seem to desribe this beer. Medium mouthfeel with a nice carbonation makes this almost prickly…
3.    Deep Water Dopplebock-Chocolate, cocoa, fruity, breadiness on the nose. Sounds rather “deep”…Mouthfeel is a bit thin but not offensive. Medium body and raisiny…
4.    Up the Creek Double IPA-This monster rolls in at 12.5% ABV!! Yikes…this isn’t your Sunday afternoon football beer. This pours a dark amber color with caramel and brown sugar aromas…orange and citrus hops are there but not overkill. At 112 IBU one would think huge hops and resiny nose. Well, they are there but this beer favors a barleywine rather than a x2 IPA. Sweet and malty and BIG!

The Wasatch Brewery out of Utah produces some very fine brews. We are now lucky enough to get such beers.
1.    Polygamy Porter is a session beer rating in at 4%. This is a very simple beer. Light chocolate and slight roast. Again, this being a “small” brew, you can quaff a few of these back and still stand up afterwards.
2.    White Label wit is the next selection. As the name infers, this is a Belgian style wit. Not a ton of things going on with this beer in terms of aromas. But, carbonation is pronounced along with the yeasty Belgian character.
3.    Pumpkin Ale is another “sessionable” brew. All of the typical pumpkin flavors are here. 4% ABV makes this a great addition to your Thankgiving dinner.
4.    Devastator Dopplebock rolls in at 8% ABV. Caramel, nuts and rich bready malt dominate here. As the beer warms, the alcohol peaks its yummy head out!
5.    Hell’s Keep Belgian Golden Ale comes in a 750ml bottle and weighs in at 7.75%ABV. Duvel better watch out for this one. Sweet aromas of Belgian candy and fruits. Champagne yeast is added to the bottle to help bottle conditioning, so watch out for a very vigorous pours!!
6.    Hop Rising is a double IPA weighing in at 9%ABV. Yet another monster beer. Mouth coating, resiny and very well balanced DIPA. Creamy mouthfeel with lots of little carbonating bubble. Very nice rendition of a DIPA.

Lucky Bucket Certified Evil returns to the store. They are now in 4 packs so convenience is easy!!! Belgian Dark Strong aged in oak barrels with spicings added.....This is a must for you belgian beer geeks!!!

Erdinger from Germany has arrived at our doorstep as well. We had carried this beer in the past and it was a great success. Their Hefeweiss is most excellent! We are also carrying their Oktoberfest…come in and grab a fantastic returning German brew.

Sprecher Brewery has released 2 of their seasonals again.
Generation Porter was a crowd pleaser last year. This is a raspberry chocolate  porter. The nosey aroma on this beer is very enticing. Slightly sweet with hints of bittersweet chocolate… Next off is the  Dopplebock. This is a full bodied, malty, raisiny beer. Very depictable for the style. 7.9% ABV is what this weighs in at! Did someone say “ Night Cap”??

Rahr and Sons Brewery out of Fort Worth just arrived today too!!
Ass Kicker Double IPA is available in bombers. Rahr is a small run brewery that is producing some outstanding beers. Look for more of their products in the near future!!!
The Ass Kicker has grapefruit nose and a slight toasted malt profile.
Looks like you have no excuses to find a new beer to drink during the Husker game tomorrow.
