The blog was contacted today by a 3PL software site about a interesting article in regards to craft beer distribution and the affects it has on us, the consumers.
It's aptly named Where’s My !*#@$% Beer?
There is a survey too. Please take some time to send them your response.

This is a very interesting article. I have noticed problems when I go to my local Old Chicago. I've asked them about getting different beers in, only to have them tell me they come from smaller distributors and so it's a first come first serve basis. This means I can go to a liquor store and buy a six pack but cannot buy it in a bar.
I find it disturbing that where I live (North Central Kansas)the supply of good beer is very limited but the closer I get to Kansas City the greater the choices. I know there is more population in KC to support craft beer but I love good craft beer and want the same access that people in larger cities have.
Another problem I have with distribution is that I can't get regional favorites. For example I live in Kansas and I cannot get Nebraska beers or some Colorado beers. Some of these breweries are spread coast to coast but not here. I know it probably has something to do with state laws but it sucks hearing and seeing people hundreds of miles away enjoying a beer that is made practically in my backyard.
Sorry if I seem angry I just hate being forced into a limited choice based off of distribution. Keep up the excellent work on the blog.
We all feel your pain.
There's has been been big strides made in the Omaha/Lincoln market in Nebraska over the last 5 years.
I can only hope areas like yours will see the same evolution sometime soon.
I feel your pain for sure too but I bet it has more to do with Kansas laws and distributors then anything because in KC you can get most things if you cross State Line rd. It is similar in Omaha/Iowa but that has closed greatly in recent years and continues to.
I live in the sticks in Nebraska and what I do is ask the local guy to carry stuff and he does. They can order only a case at a time so it usually isn't a huge issue. That doesn't solve the issue of Kansas not able to get stuff though.
Time to start you own blog and boost the visibilty of Kansas as a state that wants craft beer. that is part of the reason we started this one. It has to be in the culture and the biggest problem you will have is convincing people in KCK to do it because they only have to drive a few minutes to get what they want, who cares if they can't get it at their corner store.
Tough for sure.
I'm positive that a lot of it has to do with the Kansas laws. I just wish we could change them.
I have asked about it at liquor stores and I've been told it's a first come first serve basis. So if there are 10 cases and there are 10 liquor stores east of my closest liquor store and they each take one case my liquor store won't get any. I do have good liquor stores near me but just going an hour away will net me a completely different set of beers. Sometimes ones that I didn't know we got in the state.
I just get frustrated at the lack of beer sometimes. Speaking of a blog I did start my own. It's the only one in Kansas (not KC) that I can find. Feel free to check it out at brewmiscuous.wordpress.com.
I am now following your blog, thanks!
