This is from Jim at Empyrean

Brewers,
I’m pleased to announce registration for our first Beer Quest event of 2011 opens on Monday at 5pm!

So you can spend you weekend thinking about entering here’s the guidelines:

Lager Beer Comp:
Original Gravity: 1.040 – 1.072 (10 – 18 degrees Plato)
IBUs: 10 – 50
Yeast: Lager
  • WHAT STYLES QUALIFY: These styles, as defined by BJCP fit into our parameters:
    Categories 1 – 5 excluding 1A-light lager and 5D-Eisbock
  • WHAT STYLES DO NOT QUALIFY:  no light lagers or Eisbocks Please no Ales or Hybrid styles

As always we’ll have a nice selection of malt and hops for you to choose from.

As always we only accept the first 21 (complete) entry forms – if you want to get in, fax your forms over as soon as you get them filled out.  If all goes well we’ll have 21 entries by Tuesday evening.

The elimination round is slated for February 12th and the Public Event is February 20th – plenty of time to make an excellent lager.

More info can be found on our webpage at http://www.empyreanbrewingco.com/beerquest.html which is also where you’ll find the registration forms and schedule come Monday night.

Final note:  If all goes well and we run out of our current seasonal Roggenweizen this weekend – we will be tapping Jason McLaughlin’s Mochochino Milk Stout on Wednesday next week at Lazlo’s Haymarket.  It’s delicious!

Cheers,
Jim
