Don't Forget Moonstruck Meadery's Grand Opening Friday!!

Here is their press release, I wish I could make it but I can't. Don't you miss it!!

COME TASTE THE NECTAR OF THE GODS!
Nebraska’s First Meadery to open 10/28/2011

MoonStruck Meadery will host its grand opening weekend Friday, October 28th through Sunday, October 30th at 2221 Madison St. in Olde Towne Bellevue. Doors will officially open Friday evening at 6:00 pm.

MoonStruck will be the first meadery to open in the state of Nebraska and will initially offer a variety of mead, including both still and carbonated, and flavors such as hops, cherry and plum. Also available will be flavored soda and bulk honey.

Mead, has a history that goes back more than 8,000 years, its believed to be the world’s oldest alcoholic drink. It's a fermented beverage made from honey, water and yeast. It can be created in an almost limitless array of varieties including Melomel (fruit or fruit juice ) , Cyser (apples), Capsumel (chile peppers), and Metheglins (spices ). Mead has a distinct flavor and aroma not found in wine or beer, however both types of drinkers are sure to enjoy!

The drink of viking saga and medieval verse is making a comeback in Olde Towne Bellevue, but this isn’t your ancestors' honey wine. In fact, this most ancient of alcoholic libations hasn't been this hot since Beowulf slew Grendel's dam and Geoffrey Chaucer fell in with the Canterbury pilgrims at the Tabard. In the past decade, the number of Meaderies in the United States has tripled to around 150, and MoonStruck will stake its claim as the first in Nebraska.

MoonStruck Meadery is owned by Brian Schlueter, along with his business partner, Dustin Koppit. Their passion for mead stems from years of homebrewing, and their interest in educating others on the art of craft beverages.

MoonStruck Meadery will have a tasting room available evening and weekends and available for private parties.
