Templeton Rye Whiskey Barrel Aged Horse Feathers, Rye Ale – 7.2% ABV $18.99

Your brewers at Upstream Brewing Company have brought you a new beer based on a classic cocktail known as Horse Feathers; the classic drink is made with ginger beer/ale, rye whiskey, a dash bitters & a zest of lemon. Horse Feathers was also a 1932 Marx Brother’s film comedy. Horse Feathers Beer is a nice refreshing beer for spring time as the weather warms it has a very assertive ginger flavor from the addition of 20 pounds of juiced Hawaiian Blue Ginger that balances nicely with the light spiciness of the malted rye and just a touch of lemon zest in the finish aged for three months in Templeton Rye Whiskey Barrels to help put a smile on your face.

Templeton Rye Whiskey Barrel Aged Gianduja, Rye Ale – 8% ABV $18.99

Gianduja is the name given to a European style of chocolate made from milk chocolate and hazelnut paste. Pronunciation: zhahn-DOO-yuh.

This unique rye beer was created with this fantastic European chocolate in mind that starts with a delicately dark malty background that includes four different types of malted rye for an in depth layered rye backbone to start things off. Look for flavors of milk chocolate from the additions of lactose (milk sugar), coco nibs and hazelnut paste added to the brew. Overall undercurrents of dark fruit with bready, biscuit flavors that last from start to finish aged for three months in Templeton Rye Whiskey Barrels to help put a smile on your face

Templeton Rye Whiskey Barrel Aged NOLITA, Rye Ale – 8% ABV $14.99

In New York if you say I’m going to “NOLITA” you are saying I’m going to Manhattan meaning north of little Italy, NOLITA is one of many nicknames for Manhattan. This unique rye beer was created by head brewer Michael Hall inspired by his favorite rye whiskey cocktail the Manhattan (rye whiskey, sweet vermouth, with a kiss of cherry juice and garnished with a cherry). NOLITA starts off with a delicately biscuit-toasted bread malty background that includes three different types of malted rye for an in depth layered rye backbone to start things off. Look for flavors of sweet vermouth from the additions of Italian plum puree added directly to the primary fermentation, and to finish things off we added sweet cherry puree to the brew at the end in the serving vessel. We also recommend that NOLITA be garnished in the beer glass with a maraschino cherry just like it’s cousin the Manhattan. Overall this beer drinks like a Manhattan cocktail smooth with a little spice and sweet in the finish aged for a period of time in Templeton Rye Whiskey Barrel’s. Drink Up!

Templeton Rye Whiskey Barrel Aged Iowa Coffee, Imperial Rye Coffee Milk Stout – 8% ABV $14.99

This unique rye beer was created with the inspiration of a Templeton Rye Whiskey drink called an Iowa Coffee (rye whiskey, cream, sugar & strong coffee). Upstream Brewing Company’s Iowa Coffee starts with a aggressive deep dark malty background that includes four different types of malted rye for an in depth layered rye backbone to start things off. Look for strong flavors of locally roasted Sumatra coffee and heavy cream from the additions of lactose (milk sugar) to the brew & aged for a period of time in Templeton Rye Whiskey Barrels. Overall what you read here is what you get from start to finish. This is a coffee/whiskey lover’s dream beer.

Templeton Rye Whiskey Barrel Aged Kurgan, Wee Heavy Scotch Ale – 9.5% ABV $14.99

Gold Medal Winner, Festival Of Barrel Aged Beers Chicago, IL in 2011

The Kurgan is classified as Wee Heavy Scotch Ale and it certainly fits the bill weighing in at 9.5% ABV. This beer contains nine different European malts, and Pacific Northwest Willamette hops. When exploring this deep velvety mahogany beer, on the nose, this strong beer has a fruity malt character, with hints of dark fruit, spicy hop, dates and figs. On the palate, rich and complex with sweet toasted malt, molasses, fresh and dried fruits and hints of warming spices & aged for a period of time in Templeton Rye Whiskey Barrel’s. Due to the complexity of the malt and high alcohol content this strong smooth beer is more like a fine cordial that you sip and enjoy slowly by the fire. The Kurgan is an interesting experience with some pleasant and unexpected surprises that will make you want to live forever but be careful not to let the Kurgan at 9.5% ABV take your head off.

Templeton Rye Whiskey Barrel Aged Snow Blind, Imperial Oatmeal Stout –10% ABV $14.99

Snow Blind Imperial Stout is a titanic wonder of a stout, immensely viscous, and loaded with neck-deep flavors of chocolate, malt, coffee, cocoa and oats. It’s the beer equivalent of decadently rich milkshake made with Whoppers malted-milk balls and Heaven’s best chocolate ice cream. Snow Blind Imperial Stout is about 10% ABV and is made with enormous amounts of two-row malts, chocolate malts, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Snow Blinds huge-but-comforting flavors hide a whopping 60 IBU’s that are deftly tucked underneath the beer’s mountains of malty goodness then aged in Templeton Rye Whiskey Barrels, that’s right “THE GOOD STUFF”.
