This coming weekend marks the start of the Winter Solstice aka the First Day of Winter aka "the shortest day of the year". One Nebraska brewery will be holding a unique themed event to celebrate the welcoming of the Winter season.

Scratchtown Brewing Company is hosting the Darkest Day Dark Beer Fest this Saturday, December 20th at the brewery in Ord.
Eleven different dark beers will be tapped that day, with 7 dark beer favorites back on tap, 3 special releases, and one new beer: The Lord of Ord Imperial Oatmeal Stout.
SBC is also providing four different flavors of cupcakes to pair with beer that day. Beer pairing suggestions include:
- Dark chocolate with white chocolate frosting (Black Eye Imperial Porter or Sideburns' Milk Stout)
- Chocolate fudge with salted caramel frosting (Prairie Fire Smoked Schwarzbier or Trif3cta American Style Black Ale)
- Toffee crunch (MMR Brown Ale or 447 Maple Donut Porter)
- Mocha fudge (Lord of Ord Imperial Oatmeal Stout)
No tickets are required to attend this event.
