Press Release:
LEXINGTON, KY, October 29, 2015 -- BarFly Ventures LLC today announced plans to open HopCat – Lincoln, an 8,500 square foot restaurant and craft beer bar fronting Canopy Street, inside the mixed use 601 P. Street (Olsson Associates Headquarters) building in the West Haymarket.
HopCat will feature 130 craft beer taps – the largest draft system in the state – and a scratch kitchen specializing in homemade “food your mom would make if she loved craft beer,” including its famously addictive Crack Fries, recently named among the Top 10 French Fries in the nation by Food Networ k Magazine.
“Nebraska’s craft beer and brewing scene is taking off, so when the opportunity to open HopCat near Pinnacle Bank Arena and historic Lincoln Station arose, I knew it would be a great fit,” said Mark Sellers, founder of HopCat. “We look forward to working with Nebraska’s innovative craft brewers along with craft brewers from around the world to make HopCat a hub for craft beer lovers in the Star City.”
When it opens in winter of 2016, HopCat – Lincoln will be the eighth location for the award-winning craft beer bar, which was founded in 2008 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
In January HopCat was named one of the nation’s best craft beer bars by Draft Magazine. For the past three years CraftBeer.com has named HopCat as one of its Top 5 Great American Beer Bars. Food Network named Crack Fries among America’s Top 10 French Fries in its July-August issue.
“We are thrilled to have a new restaurant and bar concept with a proven track record come to Lincoln and locate in our building,” said Jennifer Brinkman, Director of Communications for Tetrad Property Group, which manages the Olsson Associates Headquarters facility. “The West Haymarket continues to develop, generating opportunity for businesses to locate in our community and create additional activity in the area, creating a truly dynamic district.”
HopCat is currently hiring its Lincoln management team. Interested candidates can email resumes and cover letters to jobs@hopcat.com. Hourly hiring will begin after the New Year. HopCat expects to hire more than 130 people for its team Lincoln.
HopCat – Lincoln also will bring BarFly Ventures’ industry-leading waste reduction program to Lincoln. The program has a goal of composting or recycling 90 percent or more of the waste generated at BarFly restaurants.
As part of its commitment to craft brewers, HopCat does not serve Miller, Bud or Coors products. In addition to its draft list, HopCat offers a selection of Belgian and specialty bottled beers along with a full bar and wine selections.
