JANUARY 25, 2016, Lincoln, Neb. -- HopCat - Lincoln today announced plans to open at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 19 with more than 30 Nebraska-made beers on tap and free Crack Fries to everyone visiting that day. The first 200 people to visit will receive a card good for a free order of Crack Fries every week for a year.
The opening is contingent on receiving the necessary state and local approvals.
HopCat - Lincoln will feature Nebraska’s largest draft beer selection – 130 taps – plus a full menu serving lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch.
“We anticipate HopCat playing an integral role in the continued growth of craft beer in the state,” said Mark Sellers, the founder of HopCat. “We look forward to developing close relationships with brewers and breweries statewide, as we've done in all the states where we're located.”
HopCat’s hiring center will open at 601 P. St. (inside the Olsson Associates building) at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28. Hiring center hours thereafter will be Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday noon-4 p.m.. HopCat is hiring experienced servers, bartenders and cooks along with hosts, barbacks, dishwashers, foodrunners and security personnel.
All servers and bartenders will undergo several weeks of training in HopCat’s Beer Bootcamp program, which is designed to teach them about their different styles of craft beer and help HopCat guests find beers they will enjoy.
All guests visiting the Grand Opening on March 19 will receive a complimentary serving of HopCat’s award-winning Crack Fries, named among the top 10 French Fries in America by Food Network Magazine in 2015. The first 200 guests will get a card good for one free order of Crack Fries every week for a year.
HopCat is committed to supporting Nebraska’s innovative craft breweries and will feature a daily Local 20 selection of Nebraska-made beers available year round. Additional Nebraska beers will be featured alongside craft beers from around the world on 110 additional taps.
HopCat will implement its industry-leading sustainability program, with a goal of composting and recycling more than 90 percent of the waste it generates.
HopCat’s kitchen specializes in “food your mom would make if she loved craft beer,” including its famously addictive Crack Fries, recently named among the Top 10 French Fries in the nation by Food Network Magazine.
When it opens, HopCat – Lincoln will be the eighth location for the award-winning craft beer bar, which was founded in 2008 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In January HopCat was named one of the nation’s best craft beer bars by Draft Magazine. For the past three years CraftBeer.com has named HopCat as one of its Top 5 Great American Beer Bars. Food Network named Crack Fries among America’s Top 10 French Fries in its July-August issue.

Will be interesting to see how fast 130 taps rotate in Lincoln.
Not sure how many taps Longwells has but they never seem to have anything I want on tap when I go there so it must rotate pretty well and pretty quickly. Either that or it isn't managed correctly. 130 will be tougher for sure.
76. Every time I have seen their beer menu it looks pretty sad. I think they don't have someone who knows craft much ordering their kegs.
