Beer Wars Movie

There is a new documentary coming out called Beer Wars. It looks like a movie on the struggles of craft beer against the giants. I know I will want to see it at some point but here is why I post.

We have a local 2 screen theater here in Broken Bow, NE that asked if I would like to get the film in. I initially told him that no one would attend, then I got to thinking about it. Would you come to Broken Bow to watch this film on a Saturday afternoon? Would you come if we also could BYOB? What do you think of this idea? I know we aren't a beer metropolis but we could have some fun with this if he can get it, which might be a big if.

If this interests you, voice your opinion in the comments please. I am going to contact the brew clubs in the state as well and see what they think. I will contact Trevor at Thunderhead too and we may be able to tie something in to end up at Thunderhead in Kearney that night. We could really make this a fun event if people are willing to drive. Time from Omaha is about 4 hours, 3 hours from Lincoln and only an hour from Kearney.

I think we could have some fun and do something a little different. I will look into it further but won't pull the trigger unless I see some serious interest.

Here is Beer Wars Synopsis.

Synopsis

In America, size matters. The bigger you are, the more power you have, especially in the business world.

Director Anat Baron takes you on a no holds barred exploration of the U.S. beer industry that ultimately reveals the truth behind the label of your favorite beer. Told from an insider’s perspective, the film goes behind the scenes of the daily battles and all out wars that dominate one of America’s favorite industries.

Beer Wars begins as the corporate behemoths are being challenged by small, independent brewers who are shunning the status quo and creating innovative new beers. The story is told through 2 of these entrepreneurs – Sam and Rhonda – battling the might and tactics of Corporate America. We witness their struggle to achieve their American Dream in an industry dominated by powerful corporations unwilling to cede an inch.

This contemporary David and Goliath story is ultimately about keeping your integrity (and your family’s home) in the face of temptation. Beer Wars is a revealing and entertaining journey that provides unexpected and surprising turns and promises to change the world’s opinion on those infamous 99 bottles of beer on the wall.

Looks like it will be showing in Omaha. This still goes for the western/central part of the state. So if you are still interested, even if you are from Omaha. Let me know.

Well, it looks like Omaha will be the only one to get it.
