Gov. vetoes a bill, is this a good sign?

Article

So what do you all think. I personal think it probably wouldn't have affected much but what it does tell me is that he is opposed to liquor type sin taxes to a degree. That can only be good news going forward I would hope. A lot states are looking at increasing taxes on liquor and beer and that scares the crap out of me with regards to small craft brewers and their ability to survive and grow.

Lets hope he is in the right corner on all bills like this going forward.

I would be curious on your thoughts though, am I missing something? Has he supported other things that would contradict this? Let's hear it!!

I'm with you. If he is doing this for the right reason, then by all means, continue the good fight.

However, I do not have insight to his agenda and his history on related issues.

I really don't think this vote is related to a predisposition to sin taxes, or if it is it is in the other direction. Having a lower fee makes it easier for an out of state brand to get into the state which increases the base upon which to collect taxes.

The thing I find more troubling is that this is the first I've heard of this bill. We need something like govtrack(for the federal government) for the state government.

That is a good point chris. As far as tracking, I haven't found a good way. You can track bills once you know of them on the nebraska legislatures site but I am not sure how to track when a proposed bill should catch your attention.
