Upstream Rye IPA (Nebraska Hopped) Release Party

When: Thu, Oct 28 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Where: Upstream Legacy, 17070 Wright Plaza, Omaha

I know both Thunderhead and Empyrean have made beers with Nebraska hops.  However, I believe Upstream just may be the first to use all Nebraska hops in their brew and/or professionally grown hops.

I would like for people to comment on the post to start a discussion about this.

From their email...

Upstream Brewing Company's Bauman's Hop Farm Rye IPA is the first commercially brewed beer hopped with 100% Nebraska professionally grown
hops.

Bauman's Hop Farm Rye IPA has a distinctive, refreshing flavor; rye's main contribution as an ingredient is its enhancement of the overall complexity of the beer's flavor. The crisp, slightly spicy rye flavor does emerge somewhat distinctly (usually at the finish), and makes this beer a well balanced copper in color rye IPA with a refreshing fresh citrusy bitterness & flavor that holds a very nice fresh hop aroma due to the Bauman & Rhynalds family's professionally grown & processed Cascade, Glacier & Willamette hops that the Upstream brewing Staff helped pick on the farm then used throughout the entire brewing process and in the serving tank as a dry hop. We hope you will enjoy this special Nebraska made beer. Drink Up! O.G. 1.062, ABV 6.6, IBU 45.

Come to the first floor bar area at 5:00 to try some great new beers

Upstream’s brewers will be present to answer questions and talk about beer

Ask your bartender or server for a ticket good for a complimentary pint of our newly released beer

From 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm and be entered in our drawing when the bell rings

This sounds great! Quick question, what makes this different from Thunderheads Nebraska Hopped beer and Empyreans? They have both been making these for awhile?

Just curious, if someone knows fill us in.

I think it is great that several Nebraska breweries are using local ingredients.

I think it's great too.

"Support your local hop farm"...it's got a nice ring to it.

Hi, the hops used for this beer were not wet or fresh. They were dried, tested for alpha, packaged, and stored.

Perhaps I'm going blind, but there is no date listed for the release party, or any indication if it is at one or both Upstream locations. ????

You're not blind. Just updated the post with this information.

I put it on our Beer Events calendar, but forgot about the post.

Keepin' us in line...thanks.

Very cool! Should be a great event. Local hops are the best! Try using them through a Randall, beer forced through hop cones, that will please your favorite hop head! Thanks Upstream for using local stuff!
