Loss of Craft Beer Brands in Nebraska

associatedcontent.com

From the Brix blog...

Premier Midwest in Omaha has purchased Miller Brands of Omaha; Miller Brands will no longer exist after February 7th.  Premier Midwest is the distributor of Lucky Bucket, Boulevard, Schell, and Coors products (to name a few).  Miller Brands is home to Leinenkugel, Samuel Adams, Weyerbacher, Lakefront, Mad River, Empyrean, Abita, North Coast, Spilker, Thunderhead and Miller products (to name a few).  The purchased is likely bad news for the craft beer drinkers of Omaha.

It would be speculation as to what brands survive the acquisition.  I can assure you all will not.  In other words, it appears likely we will lose some brands in Omaha.  Maybe for a short-term, maybe for awhile (maybe for good); of course Brix will help in any way to keep these brands or encourage another distributor to pick-up anything that is lost.

Please do what you can by contacting Premier-Midwest Beverage (Facebook page) or other distributors to ensure there will be no loss of distribution of these craft beer brands in Nebraska.  I could not locate a website for Premier-Midwest Beverage, so if someone finds it, please comment with the link.

Guess you Omahans will just have to drive down to Lincoln & N St. Drive in.

Seriously, hammer that facebook page, they listen to that stuff.

K&Z Distributing in Lincoln has statewide rights to most of those brands. They were subcontracting most brands through their sister company Miller Brands. So Premier-Midwest doesn't have a choice in what brands they get. I was told K&Z is trying very hard to find another distributor to work with so Omaha can get these great beers. K&Z can sell direct to anyone who wants the beer. Any beer store has the opportunity to get these beers from Lincoln. This is no different than when Johnson Brothers when they send beer to Lincoln. Please do some research before you start spreading rumors.

Dear, Anonymous 2. I did my reseach. There are brands the Premier will drop. Fact. I know K&Z has state wide rights to "most of those brands." Nothing I posted is false. There will be a loss of craft beer brands in Omaha even if I have to get by beer through K&Z in Lincoln.

How do you figure there will be lost brands. If K&Z has them in Lincoln then they are available in the state. Just buy them from K&Z. Premier doesn't have any rights to those brands. Premier can't drop something they never had.
